Apparel Department 2nd Shift Supervisor

The Apparel Technician Supervisor oversees the technical team responsible for the development and production of apparel products. This role involves managing the technical design process, ensuring the accuracy and quality of garment construction, and supporting the team in resolving technical challenges. The Apparel Technician Supervisor plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between design and production.
Key Responsibilities:• Team Leadership and Management:
- Supervise and manage a team of apparel technicians, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a positive work environment and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Set performance goals, provide feedback, and coach team members.
• Technical Oversight:
- Oversee pattern creation and modification for new and existing apparel designs.
- Develop accurate technical specifications and garment construction details.
- Review and approve prototypes and samples to meet design and quality standards.
• Quality Control:
- Implement quality control standards to meet company and industry requirements.
- Inspect patterns, samples, and finished products to identify and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with the quality control team to address production technical challenges.
• Production Support:
- Develop production-ready patterns and technical packs.
- Offer technical guidance to production teams for accurate design execution.
- Monitor production processes and resolve technical issues as they arise.
• Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to boost efficiency and productivity.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices to maintain competitive edge.
- Use data and analytics to track performance and inform decision-making.
• Documentation and Communication:
- Keep detailed records of patterns, specifications, and samples.
- Communicate effectively with designers, production staff, and suppliers for seamless operations.
- Prepare technical documentation for reference and future use.
Education and Experience:
Required: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Technology, or related fields. A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in apparel technical design or pattern making is essential, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficient in pattern making and garment construction.
- Extensive knowledge of fabrics, textiles, and garment production techniques.
- Proficient with CAD software (e.g., Gerber, Lectra) and Adobe Illustrator.
- Outstanding attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
- Ability to manage stress and meet stringent deadlines.
Work Environment:
- The position involves working in a production setting, which may include exposure to sewing machines and other equipment.
- Physical demands may involve standing for prolonged periods and manipulating fabrics and materials.
Reporting Structure:
- This position reports to the Apparel Department Manager.
