Position Summary:

Perform the duties of a licensed retail pharmacist; ensures the safety and security of merchandise; ensures rigid adherence to all laws and regulations governing the sale of pharmaceuticals.

Messenger Valley Pharmacy is a rural, independent retail pharmacy owned and operated by Grace Cottage Family Health and Hospital which employs a busy Family Practice Clinic. A pharmacist at Messenger Valley Pharmacy is expected to oversee the pharmacy staff and pharmacy workflow, including checking patient prescriptions for accuracy and clinical appropriateness, immunize patients, conduct medical reviews, take prescriptions, and discuss medication questions with patients and providers when necessary.

Qualifications:

Education/ Experience: Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy.

Other Requirements: Currently licensed as a Pharmacist in Vermont or eligible for Vermont licensure.

Essential Functions Of The Position:

• Reviews prescriptions issued by the Physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and appropriateness of medication
• Directs pharmacy technicians engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
• Provides patients and customers with medication counseling and education.
• Maintains established procedures concerning security of controlled substances and the state prescription drug monitoring program.
• Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medication and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory.
• Submits appropriate claims for third-party reimbursement
• Instructs pharmacy students and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to the pharmacy.
• Works effectively with other company employees, managers, and departments.
• Maintains inventory through prudent ordering practices and has a working knowledge of the pharmacy’s enrollment in the 340B program.
• Comply with all State and Federal Laws and Regulations
• Maintains standards and policies as set forth by the organization.
