Position Function Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Patient Support Programs, the Security Guard will protect people and property from possible criminal activity.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Patrols and monitors an assigned area; reports suspicious activities to local authorities.
  • Inspects property, and monitors crowds.
  • Contacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency.
  • After business hours, checks doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure.
  • Investigates reports of suspicious activity on the property.
  • Escorts discharged staff, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises.
  • Practices safety protocols and de-escalation techniques at all times.
  • Offers alternatives to the homeless individual’s current living situation.
  • Informs individuals of the availability of health care (HCH), substance abuse services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education, Experience and Skills/Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Security guard training certification required.
  • Previous experience a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
  • Authoritative verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain clam in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings.
  • Ability to work with homeless community, and the chronic mentally ill, substance abusers, and other persons who have co-occurring disorders that might have long-term mental illness and previous institutional history.
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the multicultural nature of the service population.
  • CPR Certification required.
