This is a 40-hour per week, exempt, at-will role.


Job Summary: The Content Writer and Media Planner will be responsible for creating engaging, long-format content for news releases, landing pages, and other promotional materials. This role requires an understanding of media planning, program promotion, and event marketing. Additionally, the candidate will update some of the library's website content to ensure information is current and accurate and assist with accessibility compliance.


Essential Functions:

  • Write and edit long-format content for various platforms, including news releases, landing pages, library articles, newsletters, and more. (30%)
  • Develop and implement media plans to promote library programs and events. (30%)
  • Collaborate with the program team to create and execute promotional strategies. (20%)
  • Update and maintain the library’s website, ensuring content is accurate and up-to-date. (20%)

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze the performance of promotional campaigns, adjusting strategies as needed to improve effectiveness when possible.
  • Coordinate with other library departments to gather information and ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in content creation, media planning, and digital marketing.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field with a minimum of three years of work experience.
  • Proven experience in writing long-format content for news releases, landing pages, and promotional materials.
  • Strong understanding of media planning and digital marketing strategies.
  • Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with design tools such as Canva, Adobe and multimedia production.
  • Experience conducting customer research and analyzing data to identify trends, preferences, and areas for improvement.
  • Experience with community outreach.
  • Fluency in the Spanish language and/or experience with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Working Conditions:

Work primarily in an office setting. Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor and operating a keyboard. Requires sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate a computer, office, and library equipment. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permit the employee to work in a multilevel facility. Seeing, hearing, and speaking required.
