The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in advanced scientific research, engineering principles, and technology development. As a leading agency in health innovation, ARPA-H focuses on creating breakthrough technologies and methodologies to advance the health of the nation. The Geneticist will play a critical role in driving this mission forward. The successful applicant will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to conduct rigorous research and develop cutting-edge solutions that address complex health challenges faced by our nation.


The Geneticist will participate in research projects that align with ARPA-H's strategic objectives. This may include designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting results. The individual will also engage with multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, academic institutions, and private industry partners, to foster collaborative research environments. Moreover, the Geneticist will prepare technical reports, scientific publications, and presentations to communicate findings and insights both internally and externally.


Candidates must demonstrate substantial expertise in their respective fields. Additional experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, biomedical engineering, and cybersecurity is a plus. A deep understanding of theoretical principles and practical applications in cutting-edge technologies is essential.


As a pivotal member of the research team, the Geneticist is expected to drive innovation by developing bold ideas and approaches that challenge conventional thinking. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership in research settings, showcasing the ability to lead cross-functional teams towards achieving significant project milestones.

These opportunities will advance high-potential, high-impact biomedical and health research that cannot be readily accomplished through traditional research or commercial activity. With a scope spanning the molecular to the societal, these programs have the potential to radically improve everyone's health." Responsibilities Include

  • Collaborate with researchers from different disciplines, including biologists, clinicians, epidemiologists, and bioinformaticians.
  • Work together to advance scientific understanding, address complex research questions, and apply genetic findings.
  • Evaluate medical histories, perform genetic testing, analyze test results, and provide recommendations for managing or treating genetic conditions.
  • Focus on therapy recommendation techniques, including multi-modal data fusion, resistant trait modeling, and development of biomarkers to predict drug response.
  • Focus on a new evolutionary clinical trial that treats patients during multiple therapy lines by discovering emergent resistant traits and therapy biomarkers.
  • Unite researchers and clinicians through the creation of a cancer treatment and analysis platform to enable real-time data availability.

Requirements Overview

  • Ph.D. in Genetics or a related scientific field.
  • 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in cancer or other rare disease research is required.
  • Background in gene expression.
  • Ability to conduct and/or oversee scientific research.
  • Experience working with government clients.
  • Ability for quick response and dedicated to continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to manage multiple tasks at once and adhere to guidelines, budgets, and deadlines.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with ARPA processes and direct support to Government program managers highly preferred.
  • Prefer experience supporting DARPA or related Federal "ARPA" agencies (IARPA, ARPA-E, ARPA-H, HSARPA).
  • Alternate preferable experience at NIH, CDC, FDA, Public Health Service, NSF, USDA.
