Job DescriptionJob Description

The Medical Assistant/Transporter (MAT) performs various duties as a member of the Behavioral Health team in the treatment and care of residents and assists with tasks to support the team. The position works under the supervision of a Lead LPN. The MAT must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of human growth and development over the life span, ability to recognize data reflective of the patient's status and inform the Licensed Practical Nurse of observations.

We are currently looking for a Full Time MAT to work various day and hours, 75% of the time M-F, a few evenings during the week 5pm-9pm.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Participates and supports the health team in the direct patient care under the supervision of an RN/LPN
  • Performs heights, weights, and head circumference measurement and other vital signs as needed.
  • Prepares patients for medical exams or procedures
  • Assists with Patient Charts/record/clinic logs using EMR system
  • Keeps examination rooms neat and clean
  • works with insurance forms and billing procedures.
  • Answers and responds to phones, emails, and other correspondence.
  • Works with other doctors' offices and pharmacies to ensure appointments and medications are followed up with appropriately.
  • Transport youth to appointments.
  • Manages time and other resources to meet established goals within the agreed upon time frames
  • Meets regulatory, licensure and annual health requirements
  • Observes the Health Care System's compliance policies
  • Ensures that all patients, visitors, and guests, as well as co-workers receive personalized, prompt attention and are treated with receptiveness, dignity and respect
  • Develops and differentiates instructional materials to support student learning
  • Manages and schedule medical appointments and follow-up visits
  • Attends all trainings and meetings as required by administration
  • Additional duties as required.

Essential Skills /Experience & Education:

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Formal training in a program leading to certification as a Medical Assistant
  • Certificate from an accredited medical assistant school
  • Minimum of 1 year experience
  • Experience working with youth with various cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated competence in auditory testing, visual testing, and taking vitals
  • Possess a valid driver license with a driving record acceptable to CHK's insurance carrier and possess the ability to drive agency vehicles to other agency sites and places for training purposes.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom
  • Must be able to list up to 45 pounds at a time
  • Must be able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist and teach children throughout the day
  • Driving for prolong periods of time.
