Since our inception more than 20 years ago, we have been developing a proprietary biological drug device combination technology for treatment of a variety of retinal disorders. Our most advanced program is developing a treatment for the orphan disease Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel). Our Encapsulated Cell Technology (ECT) platform is designed to deliver a genetically modified neuroprotective factor to slow the progression of this chronic retinal disease.

We are seeking a Head of Commercial Operations who will be responsible for developing and leading Neurotech’s commercial operations capabilities, with the ultimate focus on optimizing the execution of our field forces. Initial areas of focus will include partnering with our vendors on the implementation and roll out of key commercial infrastructure, including CRM, LMS system, and data warehouse, providing insights & analytics capabilities to the organization, and dynamic targeting/alignment of our specialty sales force. As part of this highly cross-functional role, you will be expected to partner with commercial leaders across functions (Marketing, Market Access, Strategic Accounts, and Medical Affairs) to ensure strategic alignment and steer the business.

This position is located in Needham, Massachusetts. This is not a remote or hybrid opportunity.

Job Requirements

  • Lead the Commercial Operations function and oversee sales operations, including salesforce sizing, alignment, targeting, customer mapping, territory metrics, and customer analytics.
  • Manage commercial data management systems, data warehouse, field reporting, field incentive compensation, and business analytics.
  • Drive market research projects to support the brand strategy, including vendor selection and management, design, execution, and interpretation of market research studies[RL1] [SH2] .
  • Partner with Commercial stakeholders to drive strategic decision making based on insights.
  • Design, build and operate CRM and master data warehouse to support all commercial and launch business processes.
  • Drive sales team effectiveness through territory planning, sales performance tracking, development and delivery of customer engagement, and sales enablement tools.
  • Oversee the definition and implementation of the field team training program, ensuring use of best practices and principles of instructional design.
  • Manage marketing operations to ensure timely review of promotional materials and congress and conference organization, amongst other workstreams.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 of years of experience within biotech/pharmaceuticals, with recent focus in commercial operations leadership.
  • 5+ years leadership in commercial operations with previous direct experience in relevant functions (e.g., incentive compensation, sales operations, sales training, insights, and analytics).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven expert in commercial operations functions.
  • Launch experience for rare indications and ophthalmology experience preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability building high-performing teams.
  • Ability to generate, quantify and analyze data in creating appropriate solutions for sales force and marketing optimization.
  • Experience selecting and overseeing external vendors and outsourced partnerships.
  • Strong ability to engage and motivate people and have the managerial courage to make and stand by difficult decisions.
