Days Per Week: 5.00

Job Summary:

The Radiology Technologist I performs diagnostic radiographic examinations with a high level of technical proficiency, ensuring accurate imaging and patient care. This position operates independently in various clinical settings, including emergency rooms and operating rooms, adhering to established protocols and patient care standards.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Diagnostic Radiographic Examinations:

    • Position patients, apply immobilization devices, and select appropriate technical factors based on individual patient needs.
    • Operate radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images.
    • Ensure radiation beams are restricted to minimize exposure to unaffected parts of the patient.

  2. Portable X-ray Examinations:

    • Perform portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms as needed.

  3. Film Processing and Record Keeping:

    • Develop exposed x-ray film using appropriate processing methods.
    • Maintain accurate patient records, including marking films and completing patient requisitions.

  4. Patient Care and Safety:

    • Assist patients in moving, turning, and positioning on x-ray tables, ensuring their comfort and safety.
    • Administer radiopaque contrast media under physician supervision as required.

  5. Administrative Duties:

    • Schedule appointments, provide patient instructions, file films, and maintain records.
    • Perform reception duties and other administrative tasks as necessary.

  6. Medical Center Standards:

    • Adhere to organizational competencies and standards in patient care and radiologic procedures.
Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care facility.
  • Proficient in performing radiographic procedures independently in settings including emergency rooms, trauma care, operating rooms, and pediatrics.
  • Experience with portable x-ray equipment and pediatric imaging techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, including handling emergency situations.
Education and Certifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • A.R.R.T. certification and New Jersey State License required.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand for extended periods.
  • Fluent in English (spoken, written, and read).
  • Day shift schedule with 8-hour shifts and every other weekend rotation.
