The Workplace Design Manager will play a critical role in overseeing a team of talented designers, ensuring their work is both innovative and strategically aligned with our company’s sales and business goals. As the Workplace Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the design process from concept to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Your role will be key in translating customer needs into actionable design plans while leading your team to deliver exceptional service. Collaborating closely with sales, marketing, and product development teams, the Workplace Design Manager will drive initiatives that enhance the customer experience and strengthen our brand presence.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within workplace design, interior design, or architecture.
  • Strong ability to create customer-centric office layouts that blend functionality and creativity.
  • Ability to balance creativity with strategic thinking, aligning design work with business goals.
  • Excellent project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing timelines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present design ideas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in office space planning and office furniture specification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field. Relevant certifications or advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Familiarity with issues of compliance for state and federal regulations, such as ADA and IBC codes.
  • Extensive experience with modular furniture design, specification and installation plans.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific design software (Configura CET, AutoCAD, Revit layouts, etc.).

What You’ll Do

  • Develop 2D and 3D office space plans, including furniture layouts, traffic flow, and material finishes, aligning with customer expectations.
  • Collaborate directly with customers and sales reps to gather critical project information, ensuring the design team has everything needed.
  • Review and approve design proposals, ensuring they meet both aesthetic and functional requirements while maintaining high quality.
  • Coordinate projects from start to finish, including setting timelines, managing resources, and tracking progress to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Lead, mentor and provide creative direction to a team of workplace designers, encouraging innovative and sustainable design solutions.
  • Manage recruitment, training, and performance evaluations ensuring all team members have what they need to excel within their role.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the design process, continuously enhancing both creativity and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop design strategies that attract and convert potential clients.
  • Ensure all design projects are strategically aligned with the company’s sales initiatives and contribute to achieving broader business goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in workplace design and integrate these insights into the team’s work.
