SUMMARY

The BAS Lead Systems Specialist is responsible for installation, diagnoses, and repair of environmental-comfort systems, utilizing knowledge of air conditioning, electrical circuits, system programming, LAN theory, and modern control techniques. Responsible for preparing wiring diagrams utilizing AutoCAD type software. The BAS Lead Systems Specialist is responsible for implementation, modification and checkout of BAS system application programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for BAS System/Customer network integration, and maintenance.
  • Responsible for installing, startup, checkout, and servicing products on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Performs DDC controller field setup/commissioning.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, power tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to install, diagnose, repair, and program HVAC equipment.
  • Supports HVAC Field Technicians/Installers by providing technical assistance and offering guidance.
  • Provides and/or assists with training and follow-up training at a customer’s site.
  • Assists BAS project manager by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and repairs equipment, instruments, and products at a customer's location.
  • Provides technical support to customers.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May directly supervise BAS system Installers and BAS Field Technician Apprentices. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in HVAC, Computer Science, or Computer Science related field and two to five years HVAC Journeyman experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, and programming. Must have field experience in installation techniques and servicing/repairing BAS equipment.

  • This position requires working indoors, outdoors, in mechanical/equipment rooms and possible extreme weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock (high voltage); and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
