Job Overview:

The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate and efficient movement, storage, and tracking of materials throughout the facility. This role involves operating various types of equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to load, unload, and transport materials to and from storage areas, production lines, and trucks. The Material Handler ensures that inventory levels are maintained, orders are fulfilled correctly, and materials are handled safely and securely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and Unload Materials: Accept incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and ensure materials are stored in the correct locations.
  • Inventory Management: Track and maintain inventory levels, perform regular inventory counts, and report discrepancies.
  • Order Fulfilment: Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy and proper labelling.
  • Operate Equipment: Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as required.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the warehouse and storage areas clean and organized to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Documentation: Complete and maintain accurate records of materials moved, inventory levels, and other relevant data.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or material handling role preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Forklift certification is an asset.
  • Skills: Ability to operate material handling equipment, basic computer skills for inventory tracking, and strong attention to detail.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 100lbs, stand or walk for extended periods, and work in varying environmental conditions.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well with others and follow instructions from supervisors.
