The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan Recruitment Specialist supports an effective plan to recruit volunteer ‘Bigs’ to match with youth ‘Littles’. The Volunteer Recruitment Specialist will cultivate and maintain relationships and identify opportunities therein to support recruitment objectives. You will be an inspirational storyteller and public speaker who is energized by ambitious goals. You will have excellent presentation and partnership development skills with a deep passion for our mission, as well as a robust knowledge of the communities we serve. Success will be measured by the number of quality mentors enrolled on a monthly/quarterly basis.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the strategies and tactics to deliver on volunteer recruitment objectives
  • Maintain a monthly recruitment calendar and dashboard. Evaluate the implementation of recruitment strategies and monitor progress relative to goals. Analyze data to isolate trends and adjust strategy as needed to optimize results
  • Identify and steward key relationships within the business community, civic groups and community-based organizations to aid and advance BBBSSEM’s mission and recruitment goals. Identify and pursue high potential recruitment opportunities which may include but are not limited to speaking engagements, networking events and virtual/social media tactics. Regularly conduct general and customized volunteer mentor information sessions for both community members and partners
  • Build a volunteer/mentor (Big) pipeline that represents the gender, racial/ethnic, sexual orientation and cultural diversity of our mentee (Little) community
  • Work with the Development Team to develop and implement strategies for BBBSSEM to capitalize on National Mentoring Month (January) and other National campaigns to recruit volunteers
  • Maintain knowledge of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (national) marketing/recruitment opportunities and incorporate into BBBSSEM plan, where applicable
  • Research other BBBS recruitment efforts and incorporate, when appropriate
  • Work as part of the Development Team to support development activities including fun/fund/friend raising events, annual appeals, special campaigns and other related activities with the focus of volunteer recruitment
  • Evening and weekend work will be required for outreach events. Some regional travel will be necessary.
  • Other duties, as assigned
Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Self-motivated and results driven.
  • Must be available weekday evenings and weekends for engagement activities.

  • Ability to engage and interact with diverse audiences and lead team activities.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills.
  • Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills to interface with a variety of individuals and groups. Able to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Some experience in marketing, communications and public relations.
  • Background in recruiting volunteers through various channels and platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize complex materials, manage more than one project/event at a time, and communicate comfortably in a professional setting.
  • Must work with a high degree of flexibility, accuracy, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment with numerous deadlines and pressures.
  • Proficient in computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Google.
