Pine Gate Renewables is seeking a Staff Accountant II that is excited to learn and grow with a dynamic organization in the renewable energy industry. This role maintains the general ledger accounts and records for multiple project companies in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate possesses solid communication skills, a keen attention to detail, and a positive attitude. In this role, you will provide accurate and timely financial deliverables, assist with continuous improvement initiatives, and support the needs of various departments in the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for maintaining 6-10 funds ranging from entry level to complex.
  • Independently perform month-end close process for assigned funds in a complete, correct, and timely manner.
  • Understand the basics of cash flow through fund entity structures and perform cash management for assigned funds (weekly bank reconciliations, cash requirements balance checks, preparing and sending wire transfer form and wires).
  • Become familiar with Pine Gate Renewables portfolio entity structure.
  • Perform a quality self-review of fund month-end close journal entries and workpapers.
  • Assist with gathering additional documentation/support as requested for annual audit of assigned funds.
  • Understand the role of other accounting and finance team members within Pine Gate.
  • Coordinate with other departments as needed (Asset Management, Transactions Fund Accounting team, Corporate Accounting) on activity affecting assigned funds.
  • Be the first line of inquiry within the organization for all assigned funds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to assisting with month-end workpapers that are prepared and used by all funds, basic process documentation, etc.

Must-Haves

  • 1+ year public accounting experience or 2+ years of corporate accounting experience (or a combination of the two) with demonstrated advancement of skills and responsibility.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel Skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to develop strong relationships throughout the organization and to clearly communicate issues, status updates of assigned tasks, and questions to all levels of management.
  • Ability to take initiative, self-motivate, and follow through on assigned tasks from start to completion.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively, including management of and prioritization of multiple projects, courage to ask questions and seek support when needed, and fortitude to work through technical issues in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrate a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting and keep current with developments and trends.
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Experience with accounting software and tools; ERP systems is a plus.
Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting
