Responsibilities:

This is a part time position. There are currently three full time Sanitation Specialists. The work as a team to implement the cleanliness program N5SRP. Each of the Sanitation Specialists have specific responsibilities for the corridor, and all report to the Director. The N5SRP will use the principles and practices of the Main Street Four Point Approach™ to foster the goals of neighborhood and commercial corridor revitalization, growth and vitality on North 5th Street in Olney.

The Sanitation Specialist will remove sidewalk litter and weeds along the North 5th Street commercial corridor from Roosevelt Boulevard to Godfrey Avenue.

Specific duties for the Sanitation Specialist:

  • Remove litter using a broom and dust bucket along sidewalks and within 18 inches of the curb.
  • Remove bandit signs from light poles
  • Remove weeds and undertake other basic landscaping tasks along the corridor.
  • Circulate throughout designated cleaning area according to trash accumulation.
  • Positively represent N5SRP to merchants and the general public. This means maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Report issues, concerns, and new businesses to the Co-Director Corridor Outreach Manager Provide sidewalk snow removal and leaf removal from sidewalks and gutters as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong work ethic and commitment to the Olney neighborhood
  • Self-starter who needs little supervision
  • Work well with others
  • Prior experience in property maintenance, landscaping, and/or custodial work.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people and the public, including non-English speakers.
  • Fluency in Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, French or Spanish language a plus


Timeframe and Hours

Thursday - Monday from 5am - 12pm 0r 1pm - 5pm, generally.


Compensation

$15.00 per hour with no benefits.
