Manager of Custodial Services job summary: The Manager of Custodial Services is responsible for managing day to day cleanliness, appearance and working environment for the park. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall safety of team members and guests with a commitment to excellent service standards. You will be responsible for developing and executing plans to achieve established objectives and goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all activities in alignment with principles and integrity of GGP Parks.
  • Responsible for day-to-day supervision of the Custodial Team to include developing, coordinating, and implementing all operational initiatives, strategies and processes.
  • Execute plans through engaged leadership within a dynamically changing environment, including the flexible deployment of resources based on both routine and evolving operational priorities and emergency situations.
  • Establish key performance goals for measuring efficiencies and effectiveness of department standard operating procedures.
  • Continuously improve operational execution through attention to detail and adherence to department operating standards.
  • Conduct periodic audits of custodial team members to ensure these goals are met with a continuous focus on safety, quality and guest service.
  • Engage with peers and others to advance all department and organizational objectives broadly.
  • Oversee and manage the facilities as assigned; all buildings, restrooms, walkways, etc.
  • Maintain effective communication by providing direction, coaching, mentoring, correction, training, support and development of teams through timely and specific feedback, corrective action, and recognition.
  • Responsible for effectively dealing with internal and external guests, some of whom will require levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Enforces health and safety measures and precautions.
  • Maintains compliance training.
  • Ensure daily operating logs are accurately maintained.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures are understood and followed by providing up to date safety training to all team members.
  • Knowledge of operating budgets and adjusts operations as necessary to identify and control budgets.
  • Proactively communicate with the maintenance manager to ensure timely response to facilities maintenance custodial requirements.
  • Observe and adjusts leadership and team member daily functions as needed to ensure operational effectiveness and safety. Works with Director of Facilities to ensure the areas are appropriately staffed.
  • Ensure areas are meeting quality standards and team members are providing world class service by routinely walking areas.
  • Cultivate a team environment that provides exceptional guest service while directing the team and ensuring all team members perform at a consistently high level.
  • Participate in Manager on Duty program.
  • Ensure that guests receive quality service and timely response to requests and are well informed of all maintenance issues, custodial needs and operational concerns.
  • Build and maintain strong departmental relationships with other key departments to ensure excellent flow of information and coordination of efforts to maximize performance and effectiveness.
  • May be assigned additional duties as necessary.

  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures, and of inventory control principles and methods.
  • Skill in the use of custodial materials and chemicals; and in the operation of custodial equipment.
  • Delivers strong guest service, particularly in difficult situations; regularly provides appropriate recovery.
  • Skill in examining processes, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Ability to use Event Management Platform.

Physical Requirements:

  • Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to-waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, stand, sit, lift and walk indoors and outdoors for extended periods of time, simple grasp and fine hand manipulations tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing).
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds individually and 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Be able to work inside and outside, in varying weather, to include extreme cold/heat. Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, chemicals, odors, and cold/heat temperature extremes.

Computer Proficiency:

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and three years work-related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous hospitality experience highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience required, 5+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Must be able to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of a 365-day operation, varied and long shifts including holidays, weekends and events.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Custodial maintenance leadership.
