Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionPosition Summary:This position develops, organizes and implements the following YMCA programs: parent & child, pre-school, youth, teen and adult sports including instructional based sports classes and clinics as well as sports leagues. This position reports to the Associate Executive Director. Job Requirements:·       Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent; or working towards obtaining degree in recreation or health related field.·       One to two years related experience preferred; for example, as an sports coach or volunteer.·       Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens, commercial driver’s license. Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood borne Pathogens training.·       Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Skills and Competencies:Excellent public relations and conflict resolution skills in order to facilitate positive relationships with parents, staff, children, and outside agencies. Have a concern for detail and accuracy and have the ability to delegate responsibility. Qualities Needed for this Position: Energetic, motivated and well organized individual who has a passion for children and sports. 
  
Key ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions·       Directly supervises and facilitates sport program activities in accordance with the YMCA mission, objectives, fair and competitive play and our four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. ·       Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, development, and schedules personnel and volunteers as needed.  Assists in reviewing and evaluating staff performance. Motivates staff to achieve goals and ensure quality of programming.·       Ensures the development of a sports program schedule seasonally with season sports calendar reflecting in age-appropriate activities & leagues for children.·       Markets and distributes program information to YMCA members and the community. Actively communicates with current and past participants regarding new and current opportunities to participate in programs.·       Develops, coordinates and implements innovative sports programming for ages beginning at 2 to adult.·       Manages program rosters and enrollment. Assists in compiling program statistics and evaluating program effectiveness. ·       Ensures proper maintenance and organization of the gymnasium and all related equipment.·       Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with internal departments and external partnerships where applicable. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.·       To be seen as a leader for our Y by engaging with families, children and other Y employees.  Direct service with delivering of classes is an essential function.·       Works with supervisor on program budgets and meeting fiscal objectives.·       Responds to all member and community inquires and requests in a timely manner.
