Marketing and the creation of supporting digital assets is a crucial role to increasing the flow of waste plastics into the Cyclyx feedstock management system through creating awareness of the brand and its mission, 10to90.


Role Overview

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for all accounting processes for our plant operations. This position reports to our Controller with close ties to our plant management structure. This role is an in-plant role with the possibility for hybrid work and is based in Houston, TX. You will be involved in the plant build-out and initial testing to track costs from the very beginning to help with the building of future facilities.


Role Responsibilities

  • Assist in the ERP set up of Dynamics 365
  • Manage our manufacturing accounting within the Dynamics 365 ERP
  • Driving detailed reviews that bring the operation in lock step with the financials while overseeing our standard costing model on a continual basis, including variance analysis in several categories like production, inventory, revenue and others
  • Analyze and provide accounting support for sourced plastics and plastic feedstock
  • Fixed asset accounting (Construction in Progress & placed in service) for the plant
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the product standard costs during the budget process as well as throughout the year
  • Collaborate with Operations team to maintain accurate inventory costing and counts. This would include implementing and maintaining of a cycle count process with the Lockport Master Planner
  • Monthly reconciliation of inventory and associated reporting
  • Quarterly reviews of inventory to prepare a capitalization of variances entry as well as reviewing inventory balances for potential obsolescence
  • Maintaining the fixed asset records, tracking capital spend, and reporting on projects once completed
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close activities to help ensure the Finance Department produces timely and accurate financial information to the business
  • Assist other members of the Finance Department on ad hoc projects as required
  • Assist with Fixed Asset planning and forecasting
  • Intercompany revenue accounting as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned

Experience and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting and / or related experience
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 a must
  • Ability to work well with multi departmental teams
  • Thorough understanding of accounting procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail
  • Effective communication, including writing, speaking and active listening
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet reasonable deadlines
  • Ability to manage confidential information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail and deadline oriented
  • Highly organized
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Word and Outlook skills

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required

Position Mechanics

Reports To: Controller

Type: Salaried, exempt; Full time

Work Hours: Generally, 8:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Location: Houston, TX as this role is an in-plant role with the possibility for hybrid work

Work Environment: Professional office and onsite (in-plant facility)

Travel: Up to 25% travel
