Job DescriptionJob DescriptionNRGUSA is seeking a Pathologist Assistant for a Medical Center that is part of a large hospital in Riverhead, Long Island. A qualified pathologist's assistant performs supportive pathological responsibilities under the direction of a pathologist. Their job may involve collecting samples, processing laboratory specimens, conducting research and preparing reports to describe their findings.
This is a temporary position that could be extended or lead to a longer position
Job Duties
Pathologists' assistants work closely with pathologists, laboratory technicians, and health care providers, such as physician assistants. Their exact duties may include the following:
Prepare, examine and preserve pathological specimens
Examine body parts removed during surgeries
Summarize patients' medical records
Perform X-rays on deceased patients, organs and surgical specimen
Prepare tissue for pathological examination and testing
Photograph specimens
Complete some administrative tasks, such as report writing or budgetingPerform frozen sectionsCertifications and Requirements
NYS DOH Pathologists’ Assistant License
ASCP for Pathologists’ Assistant1-2 years of experience
Hours are 8am-4pm
Payrate $60/hr - $75/hr
