The Event Lead, Grounds is responsible for the planning and coordination of events and University activities across campus, as well as day to day Grounds responsibilities that support the University's vision and mission. This position requires flexibility in hours, including after hours and weekend work on occassion.

This position is responsible for maintaining excellence in all aspects of events and grounds duties. In addition to day to day care, this position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the preparation of assigned areas for events and special occassions. This position has responsibility for the routine care of event spaces and completes checklists and documentation confirming prescribed standards are consistently met. Responsible for demonstrating a commitment to excellence, acting as an advocate to include providing timely and relevant feedback, notifying Facilities Management Director of undesirable activity, damage, or other concerns.


Responsibilities

Events:

· Manages the set up & breakdown of equipment for all events following planning/project worksheets, timelines, and checklists. This function requires responsibility for all event related work orders, including the printing, documenting, scheduling, and signing off on all orders.

· Directly oversee all aspects of event setup as required including but not limited to customer service, table settings & chairs, linens, welcome table, podiums, drink stations, trash, heaters, restrooms, parking, sweeping, general cleaning, grounds inspection, etc.

· Assists staff, third-party vendors, and other constituents with the setting up of additional event supplies, podiums, equipment, food/beverages, etc. as required.

· Follows and completes daily checklists to document standards are met.

· Performs final walk through of event space and all surrounding grounds prior to event start and again upon the conclusion of the event.

· Problem solves and takes initiative to provide solutions for any concerns that occur during the event.

· Performs planning and assssment tasks to appropriately and proactively prepare for future events.

· Provides high level of customer service in a public atmosphere.

· Moves furniture and equipment when approved request comes from maintenance.

· Performs routine maintenance requests - light bulbs, simple repairs, painting, etc.

· Maintains a binder of daily activities requiring set-ups.

· Ensures facilities management is notified of any maintenance issues, document as requested.

· Maintains equipment storage areas as organized and in excellent condition.

Grounds:

· Perform a wide variety of tasks related to the maintenance, and upkeep of University grounds and facilities.

· Use appropriate landscaping methods to care for, preserve and water plants; sod, seed and fertilize lawns; prepare beds and properly install appropriate plant material.

· Understand and apply correct procedure for fertilizer mixture and application to all plant material on campus.

· Properly prune trees and shrubs.

· Provide maintenance for annuals and perennials, and other plantings as needed.

· Properly mow, edge, and trim lawns with appropriate tools, operate equipment properly so as to avoid injury to self and others.

· Maintain safe working conditions at all times by using supplies and equipment properly and taking necessary precautions.

· Properly care for and service power operated equipment used for grounds keeping activities.

· Clean-up and maintain University grounds.

· Pick up litter from University property, remove rubbish; empty outdoor garbage cans; rake and/or blow grass clippings and leaves; set up and operate sprinklers; remove debris.

· Must be able to initiate and complete basic landscape duties on campus to include mowing, planting, trimming, blowing, fertilizing and trash removal but also, trenching, sodding and site irrigation.

· Perform clean-up and maintenance of interior areas as required.

· Assists with campus office relocations along with ensuring the trash is removed daily.

· Initiates and repairs any irrigation issues as needed.

Other:

· Works efficiently on an independent basis.

· Meets expectations to interact as a team player and demonstrate willingness to cross cover other jobs when necessary.

· Performs additional projects and tasks as requested.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. A High School Diploma (or equivalent)

2. Five (5) years of previous experience related experience

3.Valid Georgia Driver’s License is required.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

1. Able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision provided.

2. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

3. Must be skilled in operating power tools and machinery.

4. Knowledge of proper gardening techniques and plant materials.

5. Strong attention to detail; ability to organize work and perform duties with a high level of accuracy.

6. Must be able to work well with diverse groups of individuals and build and manage relationships.

7. Effective oral and written communication skills.

8. Ability to work together as a collaborative team, flexibility in a dynamic work environment.

9. Energetic, positive, “can do” attitude, great work ethic.

10. Ability to complete tasks in a timely and effective manner, attention to detail.
