Through our disruptive approach, we operate the first of its kind vertically integrated recycling and packaging production plant in North America supplying end-users in numerous product markets.

Job Purpose

The EH&S Technician is responsible for supporting environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs and compliance for the company. Helps enforce EH&S programs and influences employees and managers to assure regulatory compliance, achieve continuous performance improvement, and integrate EH&S performance objectives into standard work processes. Works with EH&S team to achieve these goals in alignment with site business goals and values.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure that the company and its subcontractors are compliant with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Support the Injury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) in training tracking, data entries and other administrative task.
  • Assist with implementing general elements of the EH&S Program, as defined by federal, state, and local agencies:
    • Perform Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Assessments for all job task at the site.
    • Developing and updating Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Energy Control Procedures (ECP) for all equipment and machinery at the site
    • Performing Job Safety Analysis (JSA)/Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for all job task at the site.
  • Support the Hazardous Waste Management Program and general compliance. Performs weekly hazardous waste inspections.
  • Support the Hazard Communication Program with performing chemical inventory and SDS analyst.
  • Inspects and maintains safety equipment's (Safety Showers/Eyewash and Spill Clean Up Kits)
  • Assist with EH&S Internal Audit Program and make recommendations for corrective actions for all environmental, safety and health problem noted.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed related to EH&S Program support.
  • Responsible for compliance with food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.
  • Adhere to applicable prerequisite programs (PRP) per HACCP requirement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to read and write in English, as well as basic proficiency in math.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
  • Ability to edit work for spelling and grammar and can read and interpret written information.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.

Qualifications

  • Degree preferred, high School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience with knowledge in EH&S requirements.
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations; Cal OSHA, OSHA, CUPA, SCAQMD.
  • Possess a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.

Pay range

The anticipated pay range for this position is $25-$27 per hour and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, recent years of experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business needs, scope and level.
