Christel House Schools is now accepting applications for a Behavioral Specialist. Christel House Schools is a growing network of high performing charter schools dedicated to serving low-income, urban students in Indianapolis.

FLSA: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides support to students needing additional assistance in meeting academic standards, through small group, individual and co-instructional methods.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • In collaboration with teaching faculty, identifies students who are below standards in specific skills and knowledge.
  • Assist students with assignments that reinforce learning concepts.
  • Monitor individual and/or groups of students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Maintain record of interventions and progress monitoring.
  • Provide ‘re-teaching’ and social skills that was delivered by the classroom teacher and/or social workers.
  • Implement, under supervision or the assistant principal, behavior plans and RTI strategies.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
  • Other duties assigned.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some training/exposure to education and teaching
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Competency in using technology
  • Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
