This position reports to the Design Supervisor and Design Manager and is responsible for designing dies, gages, weld jigs & fixtures, count fixtures & poka-yokes.


Simulation modelling: Design simulation helps manufacturers verify and validate the intended function of a product under development, as well as the manufacturability of the product.

Requirements:


  • Successfully operates CAD systems, printers, copiers & related equipment.
  • Resourcefully navigates in Plexus.
  • Take part print and draw accurately on CAD in both English & Metric.
  • Correctly calculates forms for developing a blank & strip layout on progressive dies.
  • Correctly calculates blanks, draws & reductions on draw dies.
  • Develop strip layout for progressive dies.
  • Develop rack of parts for transfer dies.
  • Efficiently design & detail in 3D/2D.
  • Design & detail compound, progressive & transfer dies.
  • Design & detail transfer for transfer dies.
  • Design & detail gages, weld jigs & fixtures, count fixtures & poka-yokes.
  • Design & detail special machinery & die stamping related items.
  • Keep accurate & updated records on work being performed.
  • Full understanding of Batesville Tool & Die, Inc (BTD) Tooling Manual.
  • Full understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) & Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Professionally works with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, be able to follow detailed directions & follow up on work assignments with other shifts & departments.
  • Must be able to work closely in cooperation with other team members to achieve departmental & company goals.
  • Must have good problem-solving skills to complete tasks.
  • Must be an industrious individual that can handle multiple assignments.
  • Self-Motivation is an important trait that is required in this job.
  • Accurately completes Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Practical knowledge of the way BTD builds tools/gages.
  • Full understanding of all the CAD software's capability.
  • Effectively load & download data using .wkf, .igs, .x_t, .dwg, .dxf, .stl & etc.....
  • Simulation training may be required for some of the designers.
  • Effectively supports all Continuous Improvement (CI) Projects.
  • Basic understanding & compliance to BTD's Standards & Principles.
  • Read & understand part prints, die designs & detailed drawings.
  • Based on company needs a flexible work schedule and/or overtime is needed.
  • Accurately complete BTD's Tooling Changeover Form(F-23.2a) & place in Tooling Guide Folder (when applicable).

Qualifications

Minimum level of education / training required/certificates/licenses:

This position requires a General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. Vocational and/or technical training in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology is a plus. Preferable software knowledge of VERO international software Inc. (VISI) and CADMAX.

Minimum experience required:

Computer skills for Computer Aided Design (CAD), Good communication skills & ability to read & understand part prints. Must have a general knowledge of stamping dies & accessories.
