Job Description

DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) is seeking a highly motivated Equipment Mechanics. This position is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and tools under the direction of the Shop Manager.

Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and work on projects needing immediate attention.
  • Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion.
  • Assist in fabrication of new equipment/new builds as directed.
  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics and vegetation spray systems.
  • Completes machine shop operations, adjusting and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Check vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls, and systems.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Conduct field visits in case of an emergency or sudden breakdown.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Technical educational training in Mechanics is preferred.
  • Experience in welding/fabrication required. 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license with 3 years of clean driving record.
  • Experience in heavy truck (gas and diesel) repair.
  •  Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
  • Experience working on smaller hand tools such as, chainsaws, trimmers, and leaf blowers. 
  • Must have experience working on mowers, skid steers, spray equipment/ systems.  
  • Ability to work overtime a plus.
