REPORTS TO: Director of Mental Health & Wellness 

FLSA STATUS: ☑Exempt □Non-Exempt 


Expected Hours: The Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator will work 20-25 hours per week, primarily within the core hours of 2:30pm to 6:30pm, aligning with our aftercare program. Availability during these hours is required at least two days a week.


Flexibility for occasional extended hours is necessary. On rare occasions, staying until 7:30pm may be needed to accommodate parent meetings that cannot occur before 6:30pm. This flexibility ensures we can support our participants' families effectively.


The Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator is welcome to arrive as early as noon. This is not a requirement but an option to facilitate undisturbed time for administrative tasks and program planning before the youth arrive. This early arrival is encouraged for those who find value in preparing in a quieter setting, but it is understood that consistent availability before 2:30pm is not mandatory.


PRIMARY FUNCTION: 

Under the direct guidance of the Director of Mental Health and Wellness, the MHW/SEL Coordinator will oversee program implementation and ensure program quality for the Wellness Program. The coordinator will oversee the wellness team in the school-based partnership where they will ensure that the gap between school services and in-club services is met. The MHW/SEL Coordinator will also have the primary responsibility of meeting with members on a case by case basis, providing the clinical services they may need in a group or individual setting. 


KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): 

  1. Engage with other members of the wellness team to ensure they are implementing high-yield, high-quality activities with all youth enrolled in the program. The activities should empower youth to make healthy choices about their mental health.
  2. Meet with a youth caseload individually or in groups, implementing skill-building activities, ongoing behavioral interventions, and providing redirection as needed. 
  3. Identify, implement, and evaluate evidence-based interventions designed to redirect and de-escalate emotionally challenging or inappropriate behaviors and assist youth in resolving conflicts. Lead the Wellness Team in implementing interventions to the standards established by the Director of Mental Health & Wellness.
  4. Interface with parents, schools, & external agencies, advocating for services when needed; manage staff documentation*, IEP/504 Plan notation, Wellness Team observations, etc.
  5. Conduct formal and informal assessments, including observations of youth behavior, collect and analyze data on progress and outcomes, and keep accurate documentation of all activities, being mindful of confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Review and notate IEPs, 504 Plans, and other documents related to the wellbeing and functioning of identified Members.
  2. Contribute to ideas for staff training on mental health challenges, being trauma-informed, sensitivity to diversity, and other related topics.
  3. Contribute to ideas for fund-raisers, advocacy, and more.
  4. Participate in regular individual and group supervision and SEL Team meetings.
  5. Contribute to the daily non-social work activities of the Club when needed.


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: 

  • MSW strongly preferred but not required
  • Experience in education or youth development preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience working with children
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent adherence to structure while being able to maintain flexibility
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills 
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and/or MS Office (Excel, Access, Word etc.)
  • Highly motivated self-starter
