POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is ideally suited for a team player capable of wearing "all the hats". The ideal candidate should be willing to work in all facets of landscape construction.

This career opportunity is to fill a newly created position to meet the increasing demands of our highly successful construction operations. This position offers challenging opportunities in leadership and management as well as participation in company growth. This full time "hands-on" field superintendent will be directly responsible for managing field operations and staff as well as interacting with office personal. In addition, the successful candidate will be directly responsible for the oversight and implementation of:

  • Large scale landscape construction projects from inception to completion,
  • Commercial Snow Plowing Operations,
  • Working with project engineers and general contractors,
  • Maintenance of all vehicles, equipment, and facilities,
  • Safety and educational programs,
  • Continual training and mentoring of staff, and
  • Accurate record keeping and timely submittal of daily paperwork.

Successful candidate will work effectively in a team environment and function as a direct liaison between workforce and management.

Required skills/experience

  • Comfortable with / proven track record of managing large scale commercial landscape projects E.g.: DOT Highway Projects, University Large Scale Projects Wetland Plantings, Malls , Large Retail Stores, Schools
  • Minimum of 3 years work verifiable experience in the role of a commercial landscape construction supervisor
  • Basic computer skills / Good mathematical aptitude
  • Blueprint comprehension / Plant identification
  • Creative, pro-active problem-solving skills
  • Strong negotiating / crisis management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to inspire others to their full potential
  • Good communication and motivational skills
  • Landscape construction equipment operating experience
  • Commercial snow plowing experience
  • Ability to prioritize and allocate the task to your staff effectively

EDUCATION / TRAINING

These items are "pluses"

CDL license (a plus)

  • Formal education in landscape construction
  • Supervisory ground applicator license
  • Irrigation license would be a "plus"
