Based in New York, the FIU Team Leader works under the Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Investigations. Primary responsibility will be to maintain effective oversight of the FIU Investigators performance, workload, productivity, and successful performance of their AML / Fraud investigations of customer transactions and SAR filings in order to ensure that the Bank is in compliance with BSA/AML regulatory requirements.

This individual must have a strong understanding of banking transactions as well as the implications on complying with all laws and regulations relating to money laundering including the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, KYC, OFAC, SARs and CTRs.

The FIU Team Leader is responsible for conducting managerial reviews of investigator output related to AML alerts and cases for potentially suspicious activity and their adherence to procedural requirements and guidance of conducting due diligence through various sources, both internal and external, documenting investigations and its results and providing initial recommendations and dispositions with supporting reasons. The FIU Team Leader manages the capacity to execute alerts and cases and prepares the investigators to successfully present recommendations to the SAR Committee and then filing SARs, while ensuring that the entire process is handled in a timely manner. The FIU Team Leader is also expected to maintain appropriate logs/recordkeeping and multi-task ad hoc/special projects in which the FIU owns and when requested by the Head of FIU and senior Compliance management.

Qualifications

The individual must have a solid knowledge and experience related to Compliance governance and change management, banking transactions, AML investigative processes and AML reporting requirements within the financial services industry. An Associates or Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required. The individual must be able to communicate effectively up to management and down through the FIU team both orally and in writing. The individual must possess strong analytical skills; excellent follow through and attention to detail, consistent sound judgment, strong organizational skills and excellent time management. Individuals must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision while performing multiple tasks and meeting challenging deadlines. Excellent working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, criminology, or other related fields,
  • 5+ years' experience in AML and/or Fraud investigations,
  • 5-10 years of managing experience preferable, knowledge of Actimize systems.
  • Experience in investigations related to Broker Dealer, Private Banking, Wealth Management, Commercial Banking with an International client base is preferred.
  • Fluency and/or understanding and knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese and/or Hebrew is helpful.
  • CAMS and CFE designation is desirable as well as knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
