We are seeking full or part time Teacher Assistant to join our team and grow with our school for years to come.

Position Summary: The Teacher Assistant in a lower elementary setting provides support to the classroom teacher in delivering instructional activities, managing classroom behavior, and facilitating a positive learning environment. This role involves working closely with young students (typically ages 6-9) to support their educational, emotional, and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instructional Support:
    • Assist the teacher in planning and implementing instructional activities.
    • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons and address learning needs.
    • Prepare instructional materials and resources.
    • Assist in the administration and scoring of assessments.
  2. Classroom Management:
    • Help maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
    • Support the teacher in managing student behavior and implementing classroom rules.
    • Assist in supervising students during transitions, recess, and other non-instructional times.
  3. Student Support:
    • Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with diverse learning needs.
    • Offer encouragement and support to students to build confidence and motivation.
    • Help students with social interactions and conflict resolution.
  4. Administrative Duties:
    • Assist with record-keeping, including tracking attendance and student progress.
    • Prepare and organize classroom materials and displays.
    • Help with the setup and cleanup of classroom activities and events.
  5. Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with the classroom teacher to provide updates on student progress and classroom needs.
    • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  6. Other Duties:
    • Assist with basic student needs such as personal hygiene and feeding (if applicable).
    • Support students with special needs as directed by the teacher or school administration.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or school administration.

Qualifications:

  • Education: College degree or equivalent; Associate’s degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents.
    • Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software is a plus.
