Job Description

This position is contingent upon award of contract.

The Public Health Director works under the supervision of the Deputy Project Manager in conjunction with the healthcare team, physicians, and government agencies to prevent healthcare associated infections. The Public Health Director must be able to interpret data, to plan, implement, evaluate, and disseminate outcome-bascare. The Public Health Director will assist with investigation and systematically analyze inspections of Facilities, food facilities and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Nursing Degree, preferably BSN.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance to drive company vehicles.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • US Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain a DOS mandated clearance one is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to Iraq.
  • A valid US passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience on a military site, working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Public Health, preferably in a remote setting.
  • Completion of Public Health Nurse Course OR Certification in Infection Control [CIC] preferred or strong background in the field of Infectious Disease Control in a healthcare setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

Key responsibilities

  • Conducts routine inspections to prevent or eliminate environmental and sanitation health hazards as directed; may be assigned to regulate food facilities, drinking water programs (ROWPU & bottled water),
  • MWR/gyms, barber/beauty shops, food and bottled water receipt of goods and storage areas, MRE’s ablution units, and chemical latrines following current standard operating procedures; duties may vary according to job assignment.
  • Enforces health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Prepares and maintains records of inspections; gathers evidence and recommends corrective actions.
  • Updates and maintains a variety of files, records, and other documents; gathers, compiles, and synthesizes data; maintains appropriate records and prepares reports as required.
  • Presents community outreach programs; educates the population at risk regarding program services.
  • Responds to public health complaints; work with additional stakeholders and recommend corrective action, writes and issues memorandum of record within the scope of authority.
  • Assists with influenza vaccination outreach and campaign
  • Responds to communicable disease and foodborne illness outbreaks, apply epidemiological methods, and provide consultation and recommendations.
  • Provides referral to supervisor when problems occur beyond the scope of the position and tracks the problem until it has been resolved.
  • Addresses concerns on specific public health issues; educates the necessary stakeholders on public health issues.
  • Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.
  • Identifies and records the signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.
  • Thoroughly exercises skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making daily.
  •  Makes independent judgments and prioritizes workload.
  • Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
  • Performance of other duties as assigned.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
