Internship Title: Program Management - Small Business Growth Internship (Fund for Equitable Business Growth Team)

Description: This is a yearlong hybrid internship (June 2024 - May 2025) in which the intern will be integrated within the Fund for Equitable Business Growth team under supervision of the Director to navigate the areas of program management, including but not limited to events planning, community research, grants reporting, and stakeholder partnership management.

The mission of The Fund for Equitable Business Growth (FEBG) is to help entrepreneurs of color succeed by funding organizations and institutions that support these entrepreneurs at every step of creating and growing their businesses.

Funding an entire ecosystem to support entrepreneurs of color in the Chicago region

Our goal is to understand and help fund the entire ecosystem that supports entrepreneurs of color so they can benefit through improved business models, access to capital and other resources, increased income, improved business efficiencies, and greater household wealth.

Working toward a more equitable business environment for future generations of entrepreneurs

Expected Assignments:

Events:

  • Work with Director of the Fund for Equitable Business Growth to organize learning cohorts for grant recipients.
  • Work with Director of the Fund for Equitable Business Growth to organize convenings with grant recipients, funders, and other small business ecosystem partners.

Research:

  • Support FEBG in preparing for upcoming capital access funding projects and pilots, including preparing the request for proposals (RFP) for the project, scheduling meetings with potential consultants, coordinating agendas, gathering data as requested by consultant, etc.
  • Support FEBG in preparing for upcoming mentorship funding projects and pilots, including preparing the RFP for the project, scheduling meetings with potential consultants, coordinating agendas, gathering data as requested by consultant, etc.
  • Support FEBG in preparing for upcoming ecosystem mapping projects and pilots, including preparing the RFP for the project, scheduling meetings with potential consultants, coordinating agendas, gathering data as requested by consultant, etc.

Programs and Grant-making:

  • Learning and Impact - Coordinate with the Trust's Learning and Impact team, FEBG's grants evaluator, and FEBG Director, to develop working documents to track impact measures to support FEBG grant recipients and FEBG funders.
  • Grants reporting - Work with FEBG director, Learning and Impact, and grants evaluator to prepare interim and final reports for FEBG funders.
  • Site visits - Participate in quarterly meetings with FEBG Director and grant recipients.

Ideal majors Undergraduate-Graduate level Public Policy; Political Science; Public Administration; Urban Planning; Social Science, Economics; Business; Social Work; Law; or other related fields.

Salary: $20.00/hour

Hours per week: 21 per week (2 in office; 1 day remote)

Internship Timeframe: June 2024 - May 2025
