PARENT LIAISON
Reports to: Executive Director FLSA Classification: Exempt
Status: Full Time Gender: Any
Hours: Center Open 7:30am - 5:30pm, Liaison works 8 hrs. daily on-site within those hours
THE CENTER
The Flance Early Learning Center is a diverse early childhood community that respects and nurtures children and adults in a trusting culture of love, empathy, compassion, and joy. An integral part of our mission and practice is to develop partnerships with families and community organizations that prepare and empower children to embrace learning, a strong sense of self, and social connection as essential tools for growth and achievement.
Overall Responsibility
The Parent Liaison will first and foremost be a trusted resource for Flance parents. They will develop, plan, communicate and oversee parent-focused engagement, education, events and wellness programming as well as maintain parent/family resources for external referrals. They will also work with staff to support all Flance programming efforts.
Interactions
- Interacts daily with Flance families (children and parents), staff, and partners.
- Trusted and reliable resource for parents to ensure both their needs and Flance's needs are known and addressed while also ensuring respect and adherence to Flance's TRACC values, policies and procedures.
- Communicates and coordinates parent / family engagement opportunities to parents daily and to staff as necessary to ensure a "One Flance" approach.
- Works with Flance staff and families to increase parent education, parent engagement and parent programming opportunities based on parent input and funder requirements.
- Coordinates all parent engagement/education events, programming and volunteering.
Planning
- Develop and schedule regular parent-focused programming (e.g.: cooking classes, yoga, mindfulness, infant massage, etc), for parents and families. Coordinate all child-development info or activities w/Education admin.
- Responsible for monthly Family Friday's activities and assists with all family-focused events.
- Special family-focused activities (morning coffees, afternoon snacks, etc) and groups.
- Encourages parent involvement for all activities including required parent participation hours.
- Works closely with Communications Manager to ensure appropriate communications for all parent/family activities and community events.
- Researches and maintains up-to-date parent resources for all families including child development opportunities, local/regional family activities, wellness opportunities, workshops, etc. Also researches and maintains resources for low-income families from health to housing to utilities assistance and beyond.
- Coordination, recruitment and training of parent volunteers for regular volunteer opportunities such as recurring classroom volunteers, event volunteers, and volunteer clean up days.
Implementation
- Works to better engage parent participation in their child's education and in all Flance programming from SEL plans (home/school coordination) to attendance to all parent/family opportunities and events.
- Tracks and analyzes parent involvement and required parent participation hours.
- Manages monthly fresh produce box program and oversees food and community pantry. This includes tracking survey questions and donations.
- Tracks and reports on all parent programming at Flance to show growth and improvement in programming including documentation of participation for grant reporting purposes.
- Ensures families are aware of available resources from Flance as well as other community resources to better support the wellness of all families at Flance.
- Refers appropriate families to both internal or external mental health/family assistance opportunities.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and limited weekends, as necessary
Environmental Factors
Indoor, primarily works at the Center (open office with no door). Noise and activity levels can be high; staff, visitors, families and children come and go at all times. May have to drop work in order to attend to a crisis. Position requires a health screen, TB test, annual Family Safety Registry background check, and fingerprints. Flance Center is a busy, unique environment. Employees are expected to participate fully in the life of the Center. All employees must be able to lift 25 lbs. in the event of an evacuation or emergency situation.
Education/Experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Education, Social Work or similar preferred
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office products
- Previous experience in educational and/or non-profit environment would be a plus
- Strong written and verbal skills; excellent proofreading skills
- Understanding of early learning centers and services a plus
