Overview:

The CNC Machinist is accountable to program, setup and run the Mori Seiki MT machines. Programming and setups are a vital function of this role. The machinist is responsible for meeting the quality requirements for all parts run on these machines and inspect parts at each sequence to ensure part quality requirements and meet tolerance within +0.0005 for both large and small production runs. Will also maintain part identification throughout the process and will set up and replace broken tools to keep machines running at a level that meets scheduled production demands. The machinist will maintain clean and orderly housekeeping in all assigned areas, following all company safety practices and perform other related duties consistent with the nature of the job and occasionally outside the nature of the job as directed by the supervisor(s)

Must Have:

  • 5+ years' experience CNC programming and machining
  • Strong understanding of G-Code and M-Codes
  • Machining Expertise: Programming using Esprit (or equivalent) and knowledge of Autodesk Inventor preferred, familiar with, and knowledge of, CNC Machines set-ups, tools needed to perform all tasks. (Mills & Lathes). The ability to work on setups, programming, inspections, comfortable with the ability to finish various machined components
  • Blueprint Literacy: Experience with engineering blueprints and schematics
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle a physical workload. Team Player: Work well within a fast-paced, energetic environment
  • Ability to hit the ground running
  • Must be a versatile self-starter
  • Must be able to work 40 hours a week and some weekends

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Uses various measuring equipment like Calipers, Micrometers, and other measuring tools.
  • Reads blueprints, specifications, orthographic drawings, and reference planes.
  • Programs both Mill and Lathe by entering instructions including zero reference points, setting tool registers, and offsets compensation.
  • Sets up mill and lathe by adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tool attachments, collets, bushings, cams, and stock pullers.
  • Choses proper tooling, set tools in tool holders, and set tools in CNC machine.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions of first run part and sample work piece.
  • Maintains specifications by detecting malfunctions and troubleshooting, adjusting, and reprogramming controls, sharpening, and replacing worn tools.
  • Maintains equipment by completing all preventative maintenance per manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Checks finished part for proper dimensions and ensure part is 100% functional.
  • Maintains cleanliness of machines and shop daily.
  • Monitors inventory levels and communicate the need for replacement stock.
