Key Responsibilities
  1. Create detailed designs of telecommunication environments by adhering to all company, client and project design/drafting standards and design processes and procedures.
  2. Applies technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to projects and executes creative solutions for the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of problems of moderate complexity.
  3.  Assist with a full range of drawing and modeling production work including problem analysis. The desired candidate will have proficiency in modeling conduit and cable trays as well as managing and creating complex families with custom parameters within Autodesk Revit and Bluebeam.
  4.  Assist with a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components and cables, and refining rough sketches.
  5.  The ability to put together coordinated drawings sets (schematic/design development/bid/construction) and specification documents inclusive of floor layouts, outlet numbering, elevations, labeling details, wiring schematics, pull schedules, etc.
  6.  Assist with initial rough designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects.
  7. Assist with analyzing reports, drawings, and calculations; create and maintain bill of materials.
  8. Participate in on­ site walk-throughs.
  9.  Communicate structured cabling standards to partners and stakeholders.
  10. Participate in project-related interviews and discovery, design coordination, and construction meetings with other technology design team members (internal and external resources). Translate business requirements into functional technical requirements.
  11. Interfaces with general contractors, mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineers, architectural firms, telecommunication sub-contractors, and AV/security integrators throughout the design and build process.
  12.  Adds to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
  13. All other duties as assigned.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as hardware, networking terminology, resilience, or performance assessments.
  •  Drives to continue to develop technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of the product.
  •  Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Visio, and the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
  •  Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, related field and or technical training.
  •  Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification is preferred.
  •  Knowledge of Wi-Fi, audiovisual, security, and infrastructure cabling systems.
  •  Working competence with modifying designs to meet customer-driven requirements and accommodate unique installation challenges.
  •  Working knowledge in telecommunications, cable/conduit routing, equipment rack layouts, floor plans and networking projects is strongly preferred.

Experience
  • A minimum of five years’ experience preparing structured cabling designs - primary focus on user space, telecom room design, security/AV, inside/outside fiber, and tenant fit-out.
  •  Strong background in IT service delivery role (i.e., engineering support for projects).
  •  Has participated in the design and/or implementation of major IT projects.
  •  Willingness to travel - estimated at 10%.
  • Varied experience in multi-vendor cabling, connecting hardware, cabinet, rack, power strip solutions.
  • Experience in hierarchical network design strategies (i.e., WAN, Core, Aggregation, etc.) is required.
  • Client interfacing skills, strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of management. Candidate should have experience operating with colleagues across different time zones with a flexible approach to working hours.
  •  Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  •  Experience utilizing BIM 360, work sets and project phasing.
  •  Ability to multitask in a fast paced, deadline driven work environment.
