Caterpillar Corner Childcare Center, opening September 7th, 2024, is seeking a passionate and dedicated GSRP Teacher Assistant to join our team

About the Role:
As a GSRP Teacher Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting our Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children enrolled in the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). You'll assist with daily curriculum implementation, social-emotional development, and classroom management, fostering a love for learning in each child.

What You'll Do:


  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to prepare and present lesson plans aligned with the High Scope Curriculum.
  • Assist with implementing lessons in small groups and individually.
  • Promote the development of social and emotional skills through engaging activities.
  • Help maintain a positive and structured classroom environment.
  • Assist with daily routines like preparing the classroom, escorting children, and supervising bathroom breaks.
  • Document children's progress through anecdotal notes and observations.
  • Assist with record keeping, including attendance, meal counts, and classroom materials.
  • Offer positive guidance and support to children experiencing emotional or academic challenges.
  • Participate in family-style lunches and supervise student drop-off/pick-up areas.
  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment.
  • Accompany the Lead Teacher on home visits and field trips (when applicable).
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher and Director on additional tasks as needed.
What You Bring:
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (preferred) or a valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and practices.
  • Passion for fostering a love of learning in young children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Satisfactory completion of background checks, TB test, and blood-borne pathogen training (required).
