Hino Motors Manufacturing is an OEM that assembles trucks in West Virginia, automotive components in Arkansas, and operates a parts distribution center in California.

We are currently seeking a Manager-Internal Auditor, reporting to the General Counsel, located in Corporate office in Novi, Michigan.

Key Responsibilities':

  • Responsible for maintaining and preparing clear, detailed, and accurate SOX IT documentation, including control descriptions, and risk control matrices, and partnering with business control owners in planning the SOX compliance testing program
  • Hands-on leader and SOX Compliance subject matter expert who works with accounting, and cross-functional process owners to help achieve ongoing design, review, testing, and remediation of the internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
  • Provide strategic thinking, thought leadership, and guidance on identifying gaps in controls and designing a proactive risk assessment
  • Plan and manage direct activities of the team to align governance programs with the organization’s objectives and execute roadmaps
  • Responsible for leading and executing assigned audit and advisory activities under the direction of the General Counsel
  • Responsible for identifying and assessing process risks and controls; documenting business processes; identifying and evaluating the design and operational effectiveness of controls; and developing, executing, and documenting audit tests and workpapers
  • Evaluate the current SOX 404/J-SOX testing plan to ensure completeness of controls to address financial reporting risks and appropriateness of test procedures including detailed tests of design, tests of effectiveness, and substantive testing
  • Maintain a current knowledge base of audit industry practices and ensure best practices are always considered
  • Conduct and/or manage special projects and ad hoc requests to support the senior leadership team and other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study
  • 5+ years of audit experience, internal or external, including SOX 404 requirements (and/or J-SOX requirements)
  • CPA, CIA, CISA, or CFE Certification(s) preferred
  • Experience working in the automotive manufacturing industry preferred

Skills Required:

  • Sound understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the 2013 COSO framework, and SEC guidance for management's assessment of internal controls over financial reporting
  • Sound understanding of current accounting and auditing (GAAS) principles
  • Critical thinking, analytical, leadership, planning, project management, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence and motivate teams to ensure that the work activities are established, understood, supported, and completed in a timely manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications
  • Detail oriented and deadline driven
  • Ability to identify root causes, articulate relevance, and provides meaningful recommendations

Travel Requirements: 10-15% domestic travel to company business units
