Title: Medical Lab Tech

Our laboratory serves as the foundation of patient care by performing a wide range of diagnostic tests on blood, tissue, and other body fluids. As an MLT, you will be a vital member of our team, assisting with essential laboratory analyses to help physicians diagnose and treat diseases, monitor treatment effectiveness, and ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Specimen Collection and Processing: Assist with patient blood draws and collect other body fluid specimens, adhering to proper phlebotomy techniques and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Specimen Preparation: Prepare specimens for testing according to established protocols, including labeling, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
  • Laboratory Testing: Perform routine laboratory tests using automated and semi-automated equipment, following established procedures.
  • Data Analysis and Entry: Analyze test results, identify potential abnormalities under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, and accurately enter data into the laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Quality Control: Participate in quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain adequate stock of laboratory supplies and reagents.
  • Safety and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and sterile laboratory environment, adhering to safety protocols and proper waste disposal procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory procedures and results.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or a closely related field (required).
  • Certification by the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) (preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting (a plus).
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with patients and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in computer skills and basic laboratory software.
