Position Overview:

This position is classified as regular, full-time, and exempt. Typical days and hours of work are Monday to Friday, (7am to 4pm) but could require flexibility to meet needs of business. This position could require long hours, occasional weekend work and travel to STS suppliers, between STS Metals Company facilities.

This position performs a variety of execution-based activities of planning, procuring, supplier & schedule management, negotiation, data management, and reporting. Additionally, aggressive follow-up activities and task management with a variety of internal and external stakeholders make this a critical role.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Execution owner of key processes: Supplier Quoting, Purchase Order (PO) Issuance & Supplier Management

  • Drives multiple customer/supplier processes through engagement with internal customers and external suppliers.
  • Develops strong relationships with key stakeholders and maintains credibility with internal and external stakeholders to drive favorable outcomes in challenging and oblique situations.
  • Ensures execution of tasks by related parties are completed in a timely manner and works with others to ensure problems do not hinder execution of procurement processes.
  • Supports data capture efforts by logging critical data used for competitive benchmarking and marketing purposes. Buyer also ensures that source data, documentation, and communication records are maintained in an orderly and quickly accessible manner.
  • Owns process adherence to all STS policies and procedures, ensuring teams work in a safe & compliant manner.

Supplier Quoting:

  • Acts as conduit between STS commercial team and external suppliers to ensure requirements & offerings are being accurately captured, documented, and communicated to stakeholders.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to use competitive and market intelligence to negotiate with suppliers where appropriate to achieve best value for STS.
  • Uses pricing information and supplier performance information to make sourcing recommendations to procurement and business leadership.

Purchase Order Issuance:

  • Ensures that Purchase Orders are issued accurately and timely in accordance with all STS policies and procedures.
  • “Owns” their POs and maintains a “cradle to grave” mentality for each PO’s lifecycle.
  • Acts as final gatekeeper ensuring that POs are issued correctly the first time and are devoid of incomplete requirements, unclear expectations, and inappropriate contingencies.
  • Ensures that formal, written acknowledgement of each PO is collected from suppliers in a timely manner to ensure that STS orders have been entered in supplier system.

Supplier Management:

  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that supplier schedules are aligned to STS needs
  • Monitors any schedule risk due to supplier performance, capacity constraints, or other supplier related issues
  • Holds regular meetings with suppliers as needed to ensure schedule attainment, drive problem solving efforts, action item generation, documentation, and follow-up as needed to ensure that schedules are met and any impacts to STS are minimized.
  • Escalates issues to procurement and business leadership when appropriate to ensure that when schedule gaps become unavoidable, STS leaders can engage and react as necessary.
  • Can quickly support data and information requests related to supplier metrics

Plant connections, support, and process improvement:

  • Will perform additional duties as necessary ensuring procurement needs of STS are fully satisfied.
  • Can support plant-based activities necessary to ensure seamless connection between STS procurement and STS plants
  • Owns all problems arising from invoicing, variances, and other issues related to any transactional conflicts with suppliers and STS.

Required Education, Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience. Preferred Supply Chain, Business, Marketing, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties and responsibilities of the job.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of related experience in Supply Chain, procurement, or line responsibility in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Aerospace industry experience highly preferred.
  • Must have the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must have strong analytical, problem solving and negotiating skills.
  • Strong computer skills, competent in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint to organize, communicate, create and present quotations.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerBI considered a plus.
  • Must be deadline and detail oriented.
  • Must be comfortable driving others to execute and influence outcomes
  • Must be able to communicate, verbally and written, with managers and coworkers and proficient in reading and understanding instructions in English.
  • Has the ability to professionally manage unexpected situations, and the ability to cope with stressful circumstances through cordial interaction with others.
  • Must be able to work outside of traditional office hours as required.
  • Some local travel may be required.
