The Animal Services Manager earns a competitive salary of $73,074.19 - $93,169.60/per year based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance, plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. We make it our mission to protect, shelter, and care for animals, present educational programs to the community, provide support to residents and their pets during times of disaster, and offer and promote pet adoptions.

About the Position

Pearland's Animal Services Division is committed to ensuring the health and safety of animals and citizens through education, compassion, and enforcement. We are currently seeking an Animal Services Manager to oversee operations.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and adaptable leader with a love for animals. In this role, you and your staff of 10 will service the Pearland community by implementing and promoting programs to educate and support residents and their pets in the areas of spaying, neutering, microchipping, adoption.


Essential Functions:

  • Maintains and creates positive and purposeful relationships with the community, building trust towards the job of Animal Services, being responsive to their needs and understanding.
  • Delivers customer service internally and externally; resolves conflict.
  • Acts as the local Rabies Control Authority for the City of Pearland.
  • Identifies inventory needs and creates/monitors purchase orders for needs and/or services; enters data into programs and monitors expenditures; acts as a good steward of the citizens' and City's funds.
  • Analyzes and prepares monthly, quarterly reports for business community, advisory board, and administrative staff.
  • Responds to requests from other internal departments, including the City Secretary, Custodian of Records, and the State Health Department.
  • Performs animal services in collaboration with other team members including adoption, responding to calls for service, dispatching and other duties.
  • Collaborates with civic groups and volunteers for fund raising and activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires an associate's degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college.
  • Requires four years animal welfare or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire (out of state candidates)
  • Animal Control Basic State of Texas or state equivalent
  • Certified Euthanasia Technician
  • National Animal Control Level 1, 2, and 3 or State equivalent (Preferred)
  • National Animal Control Cruelty Level 1 and 2 or State equivalent (Preferred)
