Job description: 

Manage the client relationship, from the original sale through continued weekly maintenance, serving as “One Point of Contact” for clients of the Property Care Division.  This position clearly communicates contract specifications to production management and works in conjunction with production to perform services in a profitable manner. This position is responsible for necessary follow-up and follow-through to maintain positive customer relations and detailed customer service, to ensure complete customer satisfaction and contract renewals. Suggests and sells non-contracted landscape management services to both meet the needs of the property, increase customer satisfaction and gain additional revenue for the company. 


Tasks and Responsibilities:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Follow company policies, procedures, and work standards.
  • Maintain established sales volume by keeping current with client needs, changing trends, and competitors; increase sales by following up on new leads and prospective clients.
  • Initiate and attend all preliminary and subsequent Land Care client presentations and meetings.
  • Participate in onsite visits and walkthroughs with clients to ensure needs are being met.
  • Inform clients of relevant issues regarding their property and involve them in relevant decision-making. 
  • Manage all communication and correspondence with current and prospective clients, ensuring a “One Point of Contact.”
  • Develop strong positive relationships with customers based on clear and frequent communication, mutual trust, and the ability to meet customers' needs. Develop win-win opportunities for the customer and the company
  • Proactively manage properties by inspecting and locating problems in the landscape before the customer brings them to our attention and then communicate problems to customers. Defines resolution that is within customers’ needs and budgetary parameters.
  • Frequent, effective, professional, and timely communication with customers.
  • Provides candid feedback on customer relationships and the customer’s perceptions of the product and service being provided, to maximize customer retention.
  • Recommend and advise clients on additional services or enhancements.
  • Oversee and guide weekly maintenance and enhancements to ensure end result will exceed client expectations and enhance Sunline’s reputation.
  • Assure that property meets customer expectations in terms of appearance and beauty.
  • Assists in the scheduling of jobs with the Operations and Production Managers.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation (i.e. client history, sales reports, client contact list, etc.)
  • Maintain a high level of good housekeeping and care of company assets in the field, vehicles, shop, field offices, and customer work-sites.
  • Maintain job costs per guidelines and assist in meeting profitability goals.
  • Initiate and approve all necessary work orders and change orders necessary to communicate with the Land Care Division.
  • Prepare and present proposals, renewals, and contracts in a completely professional manner, according to company standards using appropriate standard templates.
  • Monitor the billing process and Accounts receivable.
  • Work with the Crew Leaders to ensure any desires or information expressed by the client is completed accurately.
  • Communicates with Administrative Support team, Accounting Team, Operations Managers, Production Managers, and Crew Leaders as required to update project status.
  • Works with the Administrative Support team to ensure accurate and timely process flow.
  • Works independently and within a team on special and nonrecurring, as well as ongoing projects. 
  • Ensures efficient process and information flow for workload requirements.
  • Consistently evaluate work and determine if further steps are needed to meet internal and external client expectations. 
  • Maintain a high standard of quality of all work performed.
  • Participate in weekly departmental and training meetings.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork in a timely manner and ensure accuracy of all paperwork, including, time-off requests, and other necessary information.
  • Arrive for each work day on time and prepared.
  • Communicate effectively with Crew leaders


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is required – Landscape Maintenance/Horticulture, Landscape Construction, Landscape Architect, Horticulture, or Construction Management. Will consider other relevant degree programs.
  • Professional Fertilizer Applicator Certification is a plus but not required.
  • Certified Arborist a plus but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured on company policy required. 


Required work experience and skills

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in the field of horticulture, garden management, or landscape maintenance/management
  • Training and experience in horticultural best practices
  • Widely versed and current in horticultural and botanical fields (e.g., pollinators, invasive plants, native plants, plant disease, Integrated Pest Management, etc.)
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and technically competent and skilled
  • Effective communication of division and corporate vision to build a supportive culture
  • Excellent leadership skills capable of inspiring top-tier performance

  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and materials as needed
  • Understanding of business financial concepts, such as Gross Sales, Margins and Markups, Expenses Control, and Profit and Loss
  • Expert in Quality control and Inventory control
  • Experience in Hiring, Training, Disciplining, Scheduling, and Dispute Resolution
  • Demonstrated Problem Solving/Analysis skills 
  • Excellent Customer Service and Client Focus with an ability to develop long-term relationships in the community and industry with a service mentality
  • Ability to maintain composure and keep a positive, friendly attitude
  • Ability to work flexible working hours, including Saturday work if necessary, and 24-hour on-call availability during seasonal snow or ice events


Pivotal Duties:


  • To maintain complete customer and market awareness. Know where opportunity exists for improved customer service to current and prospective customers and opportunities for additional market penetration
  • To have complete understanding of all contractual obligations and customer preferences and effectively communicate to production staff.
  • To maintain constant awareness of customer expectations, production quality on assigned properties and communicate any deficiencies to production. Support in finding resolution.
  • To support production in maintain a safe working environment.
  • To monitor performance of work crews on assigned properties. Communicate with production any needs for training, discipline, and process improvement. Support and assist production in achievement of necessary steps.
  • To support and participate in the development, implementation and refinement of departmental best practices in all areas of field operations and safety. To keep abreast of new methods that might be applicable to the Company; constantly pursues new ideas, which could be implemented.
  • To effectively communicate with production regarding production costs. Work with production to develop strategies and ensure pricing will maintain or exceed targeted profit margins.
  • To proactively identify potential problems within production and find resolution to minimize damage/risk or possibly create unforeseen opportunity for gain.
  • To develop long-term life-cycle property management plans to meet customers projected needs and enhance overall quality of service.
  • To seek and architect opportunity for enhancements and project upgrades that are consistent with customer preferences and promote revenue growth for the company.
  • To manage personal effectiveness (competency, trust, communication, etc.) to maximize sales opportunities and development of customer relationships.
  • To provide and maintain excellent customer service. Maintain customers.
  • Ensure all field reporting and records are completed accurately and flow effectively between field and office.

Physical requirements: 

  • Able to lift 50lbs. or more throughout the day
  • Able to use hand tools such as but not limited to shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows throughout the day. 
  • Physical strength to perform heavy labor such as lifting and moving material. 
  • Physical strength to handle long hours of strenuous work during the day in hot or cold weather. 


Required Language:


  • English-fluency in reading, writing, and speaking
  • Bilingual is preferred in Spanish/English


Preferred Licence or Certification 

Landscape Irrigation Technician or Licensed Irrigator.
