Samsung SDS America is looking for a passionate Network Engineer to support, maintain, manage, troubleshoot, and execute network projects for our large Samsung enterprise network in a fast-paced environment. This position will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of experienced network engineers and provide excellent customer service with a focus on high network availability. This role requires participation in an on-call rotation and will be responsible for network support for all enterprise network aspects, including Technical Support, Audits, and Projects.

The ideal candidate should be energetic, a strong team player, have a strong sense of responsibility, great at following instructions, and adhere to standard operating procedures. They must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess strong knowledge of network engineering concepts, with experience in supporting and maintaining network infrastructure devices such as Cisco switches, routers, PAN firewalls, F5 load balancers, and Cisco wireless controllers.

This position will work onsite at Samsung Austin Semiconductor's location in North East Austin, TX or the new Samsung facility in Taylor, TX. Candidates must live within one hour driving distance from NE Austin, TX.

Responsibilities:

  • Support network lifecycle management, including implementation, management, and troubleshooting of network devices.
  • Process and assist with system requests/tickets, which include defining solutions for internal customers, planning, preparation, deployment, implementation, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Support and execute multiple network infrastructure expansion, EOL replacements, upgrades (HW/SW), and other projects.
  • Proactively monitor network performance, report/escalate issues, and follow up on resolution meeting internal SLA.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • Perform lab tests to validate solutions, bug fixes, impact analysis, etc.
  • Work with vendors and ISPs for issue escalation, maintenance windows, and RMA processing.
  • Follow standard operating procedures, checklists, and conform to corporate change-control and policies.
  • Support the network team with multiple internal tasks, such as inventory management, HW staging/preparation, peer review, IP address management, etc.
  • Create reports per management requests and on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain documentation for all network systems (LAN/Data center/Wireless/firewalls/load balancers, etc.) and conduct knowledge transfer to the team.
  • Perform management tasks such as network documentation updates, internal audits, rack & power, etc.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Current CCNA certification or higher.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise networks.
  • Knowledge of various networking protocols and technologies, including EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VPC, STP, MLag, VRF, IPv4 subnetting, VSS, IGMP, PIM, Anycast-RP, MSDP, 802.1x, TACACS+, SYSLOG, Cisco IOS, and Cisco NX-OS.
  • A strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to finish the mission.
  • Must live within 1 driving hour maximum from North East Austin, TX.
  • Flexibility to work either at the Samsung Austin Semiconductor facility in North East Austin or at the new Samsung Semiconductor facility in Taylor, TX, depending on the company's needs and requirements.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Preferred:

  • Palo Alto Firewall Certification(s).
  • F5 Load Balancer Certification(s).
  • Cisco Wireless Certification(s).
  • 4+ Years of experience supporting large enterprise networks.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux and the ability to script in Python, Ansible, or similar.
