Summary/Objective
Rotating through our warehouse, counter sales, and inside sales departments on the way to becoming an Outside Sales Representative. Engage in training classes, webinars, and on the job training to understand why customers buy and how to make yourself valuable and profitable. The roadmap is an intentional process built to provide the necessary background and experience for success when you are ready to call on customers. Our Sales Trainees move through various positions, with each step providing another building block, so they can be confident and effective in their Outside Sales career.
Essential Functions
Each rotation will be a hands-on experience to understand how to enter a sale all the way through getting it packed, delivered, and invoiced correctly to our customers. Each rotation will expose the trainee to different situational experiences requiring problem solving and dedication to serving our customer and fellow employees. Along the way, our Sales Trainees engage in training classes, webinars and on-the-job training designed to accelerate his or her understanding of how to better serve our customers. Roadmap Rotations Include:
- Warehouse ~ 6 Weeks
- Counter ~ 6 Months
- Product Groups (Gear/Lighting/Pipe/Wire) ~3-6 Months
- Inside Sales~ 3 months
- Shadowing Outside Sales ~3 Months
Throughout this rotating position you will:
- Learns and effectively communicates United’s value proposition to our customers
- Develops relationships with vendors leverage for future sales calls.
- Participates in self-paced web based trainings for sales and product training, including two 6 month NAED EPEC modules to build foundation of electrical distribution.
- Work closely with internal departments, combining individual efforts to better serve the customer.
Location
Flexible in locations to maximize the roadmap. May need to be in locations with a counter and product groups during rotations. Supporting other locations for coverage as needed.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-Motivated.
- Performs other duties as obvious or assigned.
Once outside, the salesperson:
- Calls on Construction, Industrial & Institutional customers.
- Drives the sales strategy in each account through the development of long-term relationships.
- Provides customer service and satisfaction through sales to purchasing agents/buyers, project managers, engineers, facilities maintenance workers and finance and accounting representatives.
- Performs other duties as obvious or assigned.
