Job Overview
The Quality Manager / SQF Practitioner is responsible for all Quality and Food Safety functions. Responsible for the Quality Program and providing leadership and direction to the Food Safety Program in the facility.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the implementation of the SQF program and responsible for the quality and safety of all Sprecher Brewing Co products and packaging.
- Ensures compliance with all state, federal and local governmental regulations. Includes written programs, record keeping, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing, and training per guidelines.
- Lead the development, implementation, review, maintenance, and continual improvement of the food safety and quality system and best practices.
- Manages all the requirements for internal/external audits and ensures all quality and food safety issues are identified and resolved for audits.
- Assists in investigating and correcting quality-related issues (including customer complaints) through collaboration with other departments.
- Assume the responsibilities of a SQF Practitioner and HACCP Team Leader.
- Directs, develops and delivers quality and food safety training programs to ensure employee’s knowledge, understanding and adherence to programs.
- Manages the nonconformance process and supports the cross functional team regarding the quality and food safety of raw materials, WIP and finished goods.
- Facilitates, supports, and drives internal corrective active process.
- Ensures that the team follows company policies and safety standards including GMP and SQF as applicable.
- Works with the management team to identify and resolve any conditions potentially affecting food safety or quality.
- Work in a safe manner and comply with all health, safety, security and emergency requirements.

- Comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and any/all established processes, whether established by a manager, by the company or by law.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in related discipline or minimum 5 years’ experience working in a related field.
- Strong background in brewing, beverage or food manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of applicable office software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to build and sustain relationships with a variety of people and businesses.
- SQF certification and training
- Experience in Food Safety Programs including Food Defense and Food Fraud strongly preferred.
- Ability to take control of situations and follow them through to a successful end result.
- Ability to work well with all levels of management and peers.
- Self-directed, personally motivated, and strong attention to detail.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, while focusing on meeting or exceeding expectations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Team player able to work well with others and contribute to a positive work environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a normal processing facility with conditions and situations that it may expose (noise, temperatures, etc.)
- Ability to perform manufacturing functions in order to keep the process viable. Requires bending, lifting, twisting, reaching and stretching.
- May be required from time to time to list weight up to 50 lbs.
- Required to wear proper PPE while on the production floor.
