Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is currently seeking a Receptionist to join our growing team

Job Summary: The primary purpose of your job position is to handle the communication center (telephone and paging system) and perform clerical support in an efficient manner in accordance with established procedures, and as directed by your supervisor.

Full-Time, 6:30AM - 3:00PM, Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Receive and follow receptionists’ schedule from supervisor as outlined in established policies and procedures.
  • Operate paging/telephone system.
  • Answer the telephone. Determine the nature of call and direct the caller to the appropriate individual or department.
  • Receive inquiries and release information in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current listings of residents by name, room number, phone number, department extensions, the rolodex, etc.
  • Responsible for adding and changing applicants in the Master Card Program.
  • Keep track of the mailing labels in the Master Card Program.
  • Mark all completed work orders as completed in the Maintenance Program.  
  • Responsible for programming new pagers and ordering new pagers when necessary,
  • Sort nursing assessment sheets and deliver to Resident Care Coordinators.
  • Receive requests from within the facility and locate personnel through paging system.
  • Give direction/information to visitors, guests, residents, sales representatives, etc. while maintaining residents’ confidentiality as well as GSH confidentiality.
  • Greet visitors. Direct to appropriate office and/or resident room.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail and newspapers as directed.
  • Ensure outgoing mail is ready for pick up at the designated time.
  • Assist department directors (i.e. typing reports, correspondence, etc.).
  • Update resident rolodex in a timely manner.
  • Accountable for maintaining a cash drawer to be balanced per shift.
  • Accountable for selling/maintaining stamps, checking in and sending packages, assigning meal tickets, and taking money/recording any sales from the gift shop.
  • Replenish supplies in work areas as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure resident rights are protected.
  • Takes call-ins when supervisor is on vacation or assigns someone else if unavailable.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old with at least a high school diploma or a GED and/or experience commensurate with the position being offered.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of the position can be fully met.
  • Must be of good moral character.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and to remain calm during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to work harmoniously with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
