Position: Kitchen Aide

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Aide to join our team at the Queens Center for Gay Seniors. The Kitchen Aide will assist with daily food preparation and service, inventory management, and the cleaning and upkeep of the kitchen facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set up and break down coffee and tea service at the start and end of each shift.
  • Receive food deliveries from caterers, check temperatures, and store food appropriately in ovens and refrigerators.
  • Plate and prepare meals according to DFTA nutrition guidelines and NYSDOH standards.
  • Wash and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
  • Perform daily cleaning and general maintenance of the kitchen.
  • Prepare fruits, vegetables, salads, and desserts for daily meals.
  • Supply volunteers with paper goods and other necessary items for food service.
  • Handle after-lunch cleanup.
  • Provide site-to-site coverage as needed.
  • Adhere to sanitation guidelines and maintain the kitchen-cleaning schedule.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned and maintain agency-wide performance standards.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of experience in a similar food service environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with food administration standards and codes is a plus.
  • Willingness to take initiative and manage tasks in a busy environment.
  • Strong attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to pass and maintain required clearances as determined by DOH and regulating agencies.
