ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
This position oversees internal and external deployments of Comtech Location Services products and can be based in Annapolis, MD, Seattle, WA, or remote.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Plan, lead, facilitate, track, communicate, and complete deployment activities for assigned internal and/or external telecommunication industry customers within SOW scope, budget, and timeline metrics established for the project.
- Lead project and technical update status meetings in customer facing environment.
- Oversee Program Management activities to include management of multiple simultaneous projects and activities of project support teams in a matrix environment to meet the strategic objectives of the customer.
- Lead and mentor Project Managers in support of customer program objectives and to assist with their professional development.
- Identify, track and manage risks to deployment projects and programs which could impact cost, schedule and/or quality.
- Manage and communicate Program and Project Plans to senior level internal and external leadership.
- Develop Program and Project Playbooks, and SOPs to support standardized planning and deployments.
- Participate in pre-sales efforts alongside Sales and Products teams, and develop Project Management and Deployment hours estimates for pricing of project.
- Work with the Customer and internal Product Management and Product Development teams to define requirements, establish incremental delivery plans and track delivery according to plan.
- Prioritize defects and change requests with Product Development and manage through resolution, release, and deployment to the customer.
- Transition projects from Deployment to Maintenance & Support within the project SOW scope and timelines by focusing on Acceptance Test Plan completion and on steps required to acquire customer acceptance.
- Resolve internal and external issues in a timely manner by efficiently utilizing appropriate resources, methods, and procedures while minimizing the cost and impacts on other internal teams and employees.
- Implement the established ISO processes for repeatable process flow, Records Matrix artifacts, and project metrics.
- Track and deliver monthly project financials, Including Estimate At Completion (EAC) reports required by Finance before the final reporting due date.
- Enter monthly financial and project data into Smartsheet and present project technical, schedule, quality and financial health during monthly Program Management Reviews with senior leadership.
- Develop PowerPoint slides covering project status for internal and external reporting.
- Participate and present project status during customer Quarterly Business Reviews.
- Continually expand features and operational knowledge of Comtech products used on assigned projects.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- 10 plus years’ experience managing large external customer software deployment projects with direct customer interaction.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Adaptability/Flexibility – able to rapidly assess situations, formulate plan and adapt as needed to achieve goals under conditions of uncertainty.
- Experience estimating project hours for pricing during pre-sales phase.
- Work experience in telecommunications industry.
- Familiarity with wireless standards, including 3GPP.
- Familiarity with various deployment types and environments, including VM, Kubernetes, AWS, and Azure.
- Familiarity with call flows in wireless networks.
- Familiarity with location-based services and wireless network architecture.
- Experience working with software development and deployment teams.
- Experience working with engineers on software test cases.
- Meeting facilitation, team motivation, and team building experience – success is based on team success.
- Coaching and mentoring Project Managers throughout project lifecycle.
- Project planning, tracking, and reporting experience and expertise.
- Program Management in customer facing environment, including managing multiple projects in support of customer objectives.
- Experience with Jira or other issue/ticket reporting and tracking systems.
- Experience with Smartsheet.
- Experience with MS Project, Confluence or other project management tools.
- Experience working in an agile environment desired.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 27001.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree required, Computer Science/Technical or Business preferred
OTHER TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS: PMP desired but not required. If not PMP certified, will be expected to achieve certification within one year of hiring.
