Job Summary:

The Medical Receptionist coordinates all front office functions in a medical clinic specializing in LGBTQ+ primary care and HIV medical care. Reports to Director of Health Services, AARC Health Equity Clinic.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and check in patients for appointments
  • Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls
  • Schedule new and follow-up patient appointments and labs appointments
  • Obtain patient demographic and insurance information on all new patient appointments prior to visit
  • Verify insurance coverage, eligibility and prior authorization of insurance in EMR and state database
  • Collects copays related to office visit
  • Create patient files in electronic record system and data entry into database and electronic records system
  • Prepare copays for health insurance program
  • Calls patients to confirm appointment and informs patient of financial responsibility prior to office visit
  • Assist with collecting monthly supply list for clinic
  • Processes monthly entries into database
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience using electronic medical records
  • Strong communication skills
  • Sensitive, compassionate, and positive attitude
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientation, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, and physical abilities in a multi-cultural environment
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus

Education & Experience:

  • At least one year experience in medical office/receptionist
  • Two-year Associates degree preferred but not required

Work Schedule:

  • Regular schedule Monday to Friday 8AM - 4:30PM
  • Flexible schedule, if required

Requirements:

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier if you drive company owned vehicle or your personal vehicle during company business.
