OVERVIEW 

Parkhurst Academy (PA) is a private Christian school providing education from K-12.  All employees are required to faithfully attend and serve at a local church.  We’re seeking an athletic director to serve in this key role. The ideal candidate has experience serving in a athletic leadership role and a strong desire to help advocate for developing students. This position will require a candidate who understands athletic best practices and can apply that understanding to the unique needs of students. 


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Principal in making athletic program decisions.
  • Provide leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff.
  • Coordinate schedules of all sports.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of practices to avoid conflicts and ensure the best use of facilities and other resources.
  • Approve or disapprove the use of money involved with financing the athletic program.
  • Coordinate the use of athletic facilities.
  • Coordinate the acquisition of equipment and supplies necessary to conduct the program.
  • Be responsible for the eligibility of all players.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and care of all athletic facilities/equipment.
  • Ensure the proper communication of all correspondence involving schedules, eligibility, and contracts.
  • Serve as liaison between Principal and coaches.
  • Attend school affiliated athletic organization’s sponsored events held for athletic directors to update skills and techniques for the athletic program
  • Foster good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
  • Act as the school’s liaison with school affiliated athletic organizations, colleges, and universities.
  • Keep the coaching staff and school informed of important decisions made by the school affiliated athletic organizations concerning athletics and the participants.
  • Attend all athletic activities whenever feasible and assist with audience control, finance and security at sports events.
  • Arrange transportation for athletic.
  • Supervise all ticket sales and fund-raising events of the athletic programs, and assume responsibility for proper handling of funds.
  • Plan and supervise recognition programs for school athletics.
  • Administer the insurance program covering school athletes, and assume responsibility for all processing of reports and claims.
  • Ensure that all required forms are turned in and are on file.
  • Arrange for security, ticket sales, officials, and other resources necessary for events.
  • Oversee and work with booster clubs or other support groups of athletic activities.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of athletic equipment.
  • Risk management.
  • Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years coaching experience Strong organizational skills. 
  • An engaging personality. 
  • A commitment to the mission of PA. 
  • Basic computer and typing skills. 
  • FACTS/Renweb or similar school database programs. 
  • BambooHR or equivalent. 
  • Background check and drug screen. 
  • Non-Disclosure agreement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of state and local laws and regulations relating to athletics.  
  • Knowledge of school affiliated organization rules, State statutes, rules, and local policies related to graduation requirements, college entrance requirements, and eligibility.
  • Effective communicator via typing and speaking.
  • Excellent public oratory skills.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to schedule and coordinate a variety of activities.
  • Knowledge and skill in developing and managing budgets.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods, including extended periods of time outside. 
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds frequently and up to 35 pounds periodically. 
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:  

  • Feeling: Ability to perceive attributes of objects by touch.  
  • Dexterity: Primarily with fingers, as in picking, pinching, or typing.  
  • Grasping: Applying pressure with the whole hand.  
  • Hearing: Ability to hear and understand at normal speaking levels with or without correction. 
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and move objects  
  • Mental Acuity: Ability to make rational decisions.  
  • Reaching: Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.  
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. 
  • Speaking / Talking: Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and concisely through speech. 
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.  
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading, operating motor vehicles; including color, depth perception, and field vision.   
  • Walking: Ability to move on foot for long distances or moving from one work site to another
