Worker Compensation Specialist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Serves as a point of contact for Workers’ Compensation department.
- Schedule appointments and collect necessary information for data entry, treatment, and billing purposes.
- Initiation and follow up for Workers’ Compensation procedures and treatment authorizations.
- Obtain authorized signatures on appropriate fee agreements for initial appointments and/or procedure(s). Negotiate fees when necessary.
- Obtain and review prior medical records as appropriate for appointments.
- Coordinate patients care between physicians, nurse case managers, adjusters, and other third party management companies.
- Work directly with adjusters and nurse case managers to expand the awareness and reputation of the practice.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA compliance

- Work independently while understanding the need to communicate and coordinate Work Comp efforts with other employees and organizations.
- Basic typing and keyboarding skills.
- Computer Proficiency in Windows environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to demonstrate proper telephone etiquette and computer skills.
- Must be able to act calmly and effectively in busy or stressful situations.
- Knowledge of insurance plans and procedures.
- Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prior Work Comp and/or previous medical office experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Certification/Licensure: Not required
Physical Requirements:
- Requires occasional lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting.
