The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on the organization's buildings, equipment, and grounds. This role involves troubleshooting issues, conducting inspections, and ensuring that facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintenance and Repairs:

    • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical repairs, HVAC maintenance, and carpentry.
    • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues in facilities and equipment.
    • Install, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems.
  2. Inspections and Preventive Maintenance:

    • Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems to identify issues and necessary repairs.
    • Implement and follow a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure equipment and systems are functioning optimally.
    • Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  3. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Identify and address potential safety hazards in facilities.
    • Participate in safety training and drills as required.
  4. Emergency Response:

    • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and repairs.
    • Assist in the implementation of emergency response plans for facility-related incidents.
    • Be available for on-call duties to address after-hours emergencies as needed.
  5. Facility Upkeep:

    • Assist with grounds maintenance, including landscaping, snow removal, and general upkeep.
    • Ensure common areas are clean, functional, and presentable.
    • Assist with setup and breakdown for company events and meetings.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with the Facility and Maintenance Manager to prioritize and complete tasks.
    • Communicate effectively with staff and management regarding maintenance issues and status updates.
    • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in facility maintenance or related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in facility maintenance or a related field.
  • Skills:
    • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
    • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
    • Basic knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
    • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • Capability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in various conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and outdoors in different weather conditions.
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily on-site work with exposure to various environmental conditions.
  • May require working outside of normal business hours to address emergencies.
