Hood Construction is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Pre-Construction Manager to join our team. The Pre-Con Manager will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase, overseeing project planning, cost estimation, value engineering, and scheduling. This role is essential in ensuring that projects are thoroughly planned and budgeted before they move into the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the pre-construction phase of projects, including conceptual budgeting, detailed estimating, and value engineering.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to develop comprehensive project scopes and budgets.
  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing and ensure comprehensive bid packages.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying key milestones and ensuring timelines are realistic and achievable.
  • Provide input on constructability, material selection, and construction methods to optimize project outcomes.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide value-added solutions that align with their goals.
  • Assist in the development and negotiation of contracts, ensuring all pre-construction activities are aligned with the contractual obligations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and cost data to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pre-construction, estimating, or construction management.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods.
  • Proven experience in cost estimating, budgeting, and value engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools, such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
