Description:

  • Primary mission focus of the Freight Lead is within Material Movement, supervising freight services to include the operation of a Freight Shipping Point and all administrative and responsibilities associated with the process outbound freight shipments and shipping of hazardous and sensitive materials.
  • This includes processing and documenting freight for shipment, preparing Bills of Lading (BL), and verifying Transportation Account Codes (TAC) through the Transportation Global Edit Table (TGET) IAW Rules and Accessorial Services Governing the Department of Defense Freight Traffic by Rail Carriers, (SDDC Freight Traffic Rules, and Publication No. 10B), DTR Part II, Regulations CFR Title 49 and other applicable regulations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-3 years' work experience in a supervisor capacity required, preferably in a LTL environment.
  • Must be able to work operate and have detail knowledge of CMOS
  • Prior freight industry experience preferred.
  • Must have formal supervisor skills in the Transportation Department.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense Freight Traffic rules and regulations, SDDC Freight Traffic Rules, DTR Part II, Regulations CFR Title 49 and other applicable regulations.
  • HAZMAT certified in accordance with the Defense Transportation Regulation, Part II, Chapter 204 is required.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills are essential. Forklift certified, OSHA and/or Hazmat training experience preferred/must be willing to attain and maintain certs. Working Supervisor.
  • Must be computer literate, proficient in MS Windows-based applications, as well as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Shall obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance, if required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 18 years of age.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident for more than 3 years for CAC/ NACI eligibility
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment or alone and supervise a team of 6 or more, including working in hot, dusty, windy areas for prolong time periods.
  • Be able to pick up and move items up to 50 lbs. with no restriction.
  • Be capable of climbing and working on equipment at 10 feet above ground limit Be capable of using and understanding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), 88N.
  • Analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to quickly research and collect the necessary applicable data, to establish the applicable facts, and to take or recommend action based upon proven applications or interpretation of systematic established guidelines.
  • An associate or higher degree in business, management, logistics or the equivalent military service schools' graduation to verify the abilities and competence required to perform in a wide scope of transportation related tasks.
